Spokes and Saddles
In this article, I have mentioned my process of designing a small business website named as Spokes and Saddles. In designing the process of a Small Business Website I started by asking the owner about the business like how they work, what is their business about, any design preferences, any specific features of the website, and the requirements for the website they are hoping to develop. The owner’s main goal was to have a website, so they could reach more people and promote their business because, in this modern world, they weren’t able to reach more people only by store.
In the start, I showed the owner different user interface designs and discussed about the web structure functionalities of the website like the contact form, map, and image gallery, and how they want customers to connect with them like via email or phone number. Do they want a mobile-friendly website and do they have any specific requirements for colors or branding elements?
Now User Interface is the most important aspect while designing a website as it focuses on creating a friendly and visually attractive website. I have tried creating a clean and minimalistic design for Spokes and Saddles by focusing on essential elements with user-centric approach.
Typography
For the website, I decided to use 2 fonts, Vazirmatn and Teko. The reason for choosing these two typefaces is that Vazirmatn is a legible typeface that is suitable for web pages and gives deeper visibility and on the other hand, Teko is suitable for a bold and contemporary look which makes it visually appealing. Besides visual appearance, the reason for choosing these two is that they make a good pair both are legible and the client loved them.
Color
For colors on the website, I have used multiple colors, but I decided to use #114B5F for the foreground and for the background #fff. The reason for using #114B5F is that the Brand represents Trust and Reliability and # 114B5F is a shade of Blue color which also represents coolness, trust, and loyalty. The reason for choosing #fff for the background is that a white background gives a clean and minimalist design sense and offers high contrast for readability. Also, it conveys a professional appearance and helps grab the attention of the user to the content.
Features and Information
On the website, I have tried my best to create a suitable website for small business by creating a navigation, imgae gallery, search field, and information like products, advantages, services, contacts, and location, so anyone who visits the website can get enough information about the business.
Conclusion
In my experience, what I have learned so far is that it is very important to engage with the business owner to understand their needs and requirements because it’s not only about what we think as a designer is essential, but it is also necessary to understand and research what are requirements of the business and what they want to do in future, so I have learned a lot and for future, I can improve myself while connecting with the clients.
